DESCRIPTION

Madison District Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Occupational Therapist to support students in developing the functional skills necessary for success within the educational environment. The Occupational Therapist will provide evaluation, intervention, consultation, and support services to students with identified needs and collaborate with staff, families, and support personnel to enhance student achievement and independence.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Michigan Occupational Therapist license and registration
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy assessment tools, intervention techniques, and best practices within a school setting
  • Understanding of special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and outside agencies
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports in a timely manner
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments for referred students
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy goals and intervention plans
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students as outlined in IEPs
  • Prepare written evaluation reports and maintain required documentation
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and related service providers regarding student needs and progress
  • Recommend adaptive equipment, accommodations, and strategies to support student participation and independence
  • Attend and participate in METs, IEP meetings, child study meetings, and staff meetings, as requested
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as appropriate
  • Maintain current knowledge of occupational therapy practices, research, and educational requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Specialized Student Services
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support students in developing fine motor, sensory, self-help, and functional skills related to school performance
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Consult with staff regarding classroom modifications and intervention strategies
  • Maintain therapy schedules and service logs
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and educational committees
