POSITION

Occupational Therapist – 1.0 FTE

DESCRIPTION

The Occupational Therapist will work with students with disabilities included in general education requiring OT services as outlined in individual education plans.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with major in Occupational Therapy.
  • National certification and registration by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Current Michigan Occupational Therapy license.
  • Experience with ASD population and extended needs/services.
  • Experience in elementary and secondary special education.
  • Experience with developmental screening, diagnostic tests, as well as OT evaluations for students K-12.
  • Proficiency in translating evaluation information into appropriate goals/objectives for students learning.
  • Appropriate medical and school experience with students at all levels.
  • Skilled at providing individual, group, classroom, and consultative OT services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluates students referred with fine/perceptual motor, sensorimotor concerns impacting progress in general curriculum.
  • Participates in IEPT meetings as necessary.
  • Provides OT services as outlined in the IEP and maintains detailed service logs.
  • Consults with teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents as necessary.
  • Provides training as necessary to support carryover/generalization of skills.
  • Completes comprehensive written reports, records, and progress reports on students in a clear and meaningful manner.
  • Serves as a member of Child Study Team, Child Screening Committees, and similar groups to screen and assess students.
  • Records and submits all data relevant to the School-Based Medicaid Reimbursement program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
