Responsibilities
  • Evaluates patients through medical records review as appropriate, utilizes appropriate evaluation techniques and clinical observation.
  • Applies skills learned during academic training, educational programs, and practical experience to evaluate patient/family needs and to develop appropriate treatment plans and goals including discharge planning.
  • Demonstrates competency in patient assessment, goal setting, and development and implementation of treatment plans to meet these goals. Maintains appropriate documentation in a timely fashion. Evaluates effectiveness of plan and modifies and/or terminates as indicated.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills when interacting with families, physicians, patients and others involved in a patient\'s care to promote cooperation and respect. Initiates appropriate behavior to effect change.
  • Provides relevant information at meetings such as team and family conferences, home health conferences, rehab clinic meetings, and other necessary forums.
  • Maintains current knowledge of therapy techniques appropriate to the patients at Gottsche Rehab Center through attendance of in-service classes and continuing education courses as required for licensure; shares knowledge with staff through discussions or in-services.
  • Assigns appropriate treatments or portions to therapy assistants and aides, assesses accuracy and thoroughness of care, and provides feedback to the Department Head.
  • Acts as a preceptor to therapy students and provides feedback to students and academic directors responsible for clinical education.
  • Seeks information and input from staff, physicians and other health care professionals to ensure ongoing appropriate patient care.
  • In the absence of the Department Head, assumes responsibility for patient assignment and problem solving for patient care and facility needs.
  • Implements and assesses quality assurance and utilization review programs to evaluate policy and treatment effectiveness.
  • Has knowledge of therapy devices including exercise tables, fitness equipment, assistive devices, wheelchairs, pulleys, weights, and other equipment common to Occupational Therapy.
  • Demonstrates safety awareness in all aspects of patient care.
  • Performs other duties related to the position as needed; job duties subject to change as the department evolves.
  • Markets self and clinic while upholding a positive community reputation.
  • Works with the hospital for in-patient therapy care in accordance with hospital policies and guidelines.
  • Participates in HIPAA training and awareness programs and abides by all privacy and security rules as required by law.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Currently licensed in the State of Wyoming or eligible for licensure
  • Certified in CPR
  • Must meet all requirements of Gottsche's automobile insurance carrier
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent computer skills
  • Exceptional ability to work with employees under fast-paced working conditions
  • Ability to attend educational training and seminars
