Job summary

Devereux Texas invites an Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team in League City, Texas, working with children and adolescents with ASD, IDD and related behavioral and sensory challenges in a residential setting.

You will help individuals build independence, enhance life skills, and improve sensory regulation, contributing to meaningful progress toward personal treatment goals within a trauma-informed, person-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Masters’ or Doctoral degree in psychology, special education or related field.
• Current NBCOT certification.
• Current Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners licensure.
• Experience working with children, adolescents with autism or developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations using standardized and non-standardized tools.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans focused on functional independence, sensory processing, and daily living skills.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each individual's needs.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support individualized treatment goals.
• Evaluate progress, adjust interventions, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Provide training and hands-on support to direct care staff on interventions.
• Promote a safe, trauma-informed, person-centered therapeutic environment.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, quality initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

In this role, you will work with children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), and co-occurring behavioral, emotional, and sensory processing challenges in a residential treatment setting.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and assessments utilizing standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.


• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans focused on functional independence, sensory processing, adaptive functioning, motor development, and daily living skills.


• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each individual's unique strengths and needs.


• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of behavioral health professionals, educators, nurses, and direct care staff to support individualized treatment goals.


• Evaluate progress, adjust interventions as needed, and maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.


• Provide training, guidance, and hands-on support to direct care staff to ensure consistent implementation of therapeutic interventions.


• Promote a safe, supportive, trauma-informed, and person-centered therapeutic environment.


• Participate in treatment team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Education

• Masters’ or Doctoral degree in psychology, special education or related field.


• Current National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.


• Current Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE) licensure.

Experience

• Experience working with children, adolescents, or adults with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors, and/or emotional or behavioral disorders.


• Proficiency in occupational therapy evaluations, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions.


• Knowledge of sensory processing, fine and gross motor development, visual-motor integration, adaptive functioning, and self-care skills.
