General Job Description: Provides direct and indirect occupational therapy services to Kaw Valley students.

COTA

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation, direct and indirect services as defined by the needs of the child. This may include working cooperatively and/or training the paraprofessional, teacher, parent, and other team members regarding the child’s program.
  • Consultation as requested regarding a child’s needs.
  • Participation in the student’s IEP per district and state policies and student team meetings as requested.
  • Participate in Child Find activities.
  • Recommendation and follow-up on adapted equipment and assistive technology.
  • Evaluation report, data inputted into the IEP and quarterly updates, end-of-the-year summary, and other reports as requested.
  • Supervision of COTA, which includes direct supervision, assisting with planning, and reviewing student data.
  • Sending completed monthly logs to Special Services at the beginning of the following month.

Other:

  • Develop positive working relationships with administrators, parents, teachers, students, and others.
  • Complies with legal directives (e.g., IDEA, Americans with Disabilities Act, Kansas State Statutes).
  • Networks with families, teachers, and other professionals within and outside the school.
  • Facilitates meetings effectively.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Kaw Valley USD #321 School Board. Maintain a valid license on file at Special Services.

Evaluation: The performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with Board of Education policy.
