Job summary

Henrico Doctors' Hospital seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our acute care/rehabilitation team in Virginia. You will evaluate patients, create individualized therapy plans, deliver evidence-based interventions, and collaborate with physicians and nurses to support recovery and safe transitions of care.

You will educate patients and families, document progress thoroughly, and participate in quality management initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AOTA accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
  • AHA Healthcare Provider credential is required.
  • CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then developing individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
  • Delivering skilled, evidence‑based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life.
  • Monitoring patient progress, adjusting plans as needed, and ensuring thorough, timely documentation.
  • Educating patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Leading by example—guiding therapy assistants or students and upholding our mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
  • Responsible for clinical management of the patient.
  • Assures satisfaction of customers (patients, visitors, physicians and staff).
  • Participates and understands Quality Management activities.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Understands hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Promotes cost effective unit operations.
  • Documents care utilizing the appropriate tools.
  • Maintains competencies in clinical areas and is responsible for professional growth and development.
  • Complies with professional, regulatory, governmental and departmental standards.
  • Supervises students, (optional)

Job Summary And Qualifications

Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life after illness or injury. Your role will include:

What qualifications you will need:
EDUCATION:
  • Graduate of an AOTA accredited School of Occupational Therapy
  • AHA Healthcare Provider
  • CPR
LICENSURE:
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia
EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous experience in an acute care facility preferred; new graduates considered
