Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist will evaluate and treat patients with a variety of functional, physical, and activity-related needs. The OT will develop individualized treatment plans, provide evidence-based interventions, educate patients and caregivers, and monitor progress to support improved independence and functional outcomes.
The ideal candidate is clinically knowledgeable, compassionate, organized, and committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to identify functional limitations, strengths, and individual treatment needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient goals, clinical findings, and evidence-based practice.
- Provide therapeutic interventions designed to improve functional abilities, independence, mobility, coordination, strength, and participation in daily activities, as appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding therapeutic exercises, home programs, adaptive techniques, safety strategies, and assistive equipment.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response and functional outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and organizational requirements.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary care team regarding patient status, treatment plans, and progress.
- Participate in case discussions, team meetings, and other clinical activities that support coordinated patient care.
- Maintain current knowledge of occupational therapy best practices, clinical guidelines, and applicable regulations.
- Provide professional, respectful, and compassionate care that reflects the needs and goals of each patient.
Qualifications
- Current and active New York State Occupational Therapy license.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment-planning, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and professional excellence.
- New York State OT licensure and all required credentials must be maintained in good standing.
