Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in Houston, TX is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our care team. You will evaluate patients, develop individualized therapy plans, and provide hands-on, evidence-based interventions to promote independence and recovery.

Work closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, document progress, educate patients and families, and support safe transitions of care in a full-service hospital.

Qualifications

  • OTR certification and Texas OT licensure required.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy; master's preferred.
  • Experience in rehab settings is preferred; acute care a plus.
  • Weekday work with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and needs to create individualized therapy plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to promote healing and independence.
  • Monitor progress, adjust plans, and document outcomes thoroughly.
  • Educate patients and families to support understanding and engagement.
  • Collaborate with physicians and care teams to ensure seamless transitions of care.
  • Lead or mentor therapy assistants and students while upholding hospital values.

Your role will include:

  • Evaluating each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then developing individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
  • Delivering skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
  • Monitoring patient progress, adjusting plans as needed, and ensuring thorough,timelydocumentation that reflects quality outcomes.
  • Educating patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Leading by example—providing guidance to therapy assistants or students and upholding HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (OTR) Occupational Therapist Registered required
  • (OT) Occupational Therapist licensed in the state of Texas required
  • Bachelors Degree required from an occupational therapy program, Masters preferred
  • Experience in a rehab setting preferred, new grads will be considered; Acute care experience a plus
  • Must be able to work weekdays with rotating weekends and holidays
