Job summary

Garden City Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a full-time, day shift position.

The OT will evaluate, plan, and implement therapy for patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary conditions, collaborating with physicians and staff to restore function and independence.

A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; licensure and BLS are required, with NBCOT preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Current state OT license/certification.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• Knowledge of OT principles and rehabilitation practices.
• Strong communication, documentation, and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' functional abilities, limitations, and rehabilitation needs.
• Develop and implement individualized OT treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, self-care, daily living skills, and independence.
• Educate patients and caregivers on treatment goals and home exercise programs.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to support outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation per hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Ensure compliance with OT practice standards and safety guidelines.

Overview

Occupational Therapist – Full Time Days

Department: Occupational TherapySchedule: Full-Time | Day Shift

The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation, consultation, and therapeutic intervention services to help patients restore functional abilities, maximize independence, and prevent disability. Working as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team, this role develops and implements treatment plans for patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary conditions while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' functional abilities, limitations, and rehabilitation needs.
• Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, self-care, daily living skills, and overall functional independence.
• Educate patients and caregivers on treatment goals, adaptive techniques, and home exercise programs.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital, state, federal, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with occupational therapy practice standards, patient safety guidelines, and quality care initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Current state Occupational Therapy license/certification.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, treatment techniques, and rehabilitation practices.
• Strong communication, documentation, and patient care skills.

Preferred

• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.
• Membership or affiliation with AOTA and/or OTAC.
• Experience treating patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary conditions.
