Job summary

NHC HomeCare Chipley is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to supervise and deliver rehabilitative OT services to patients with physical disabilities, injuries, or diseases in a homecare setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited OT program as certified by AOTA.
  • Licensed/registered to practice OT in the state.
  • Active membership in State/National OT Associations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise OT services.
  • Provide OT services as ordered by physician; delegate to licensed OT Assistant.
  • Instruct staff in delegated functions, precautions, goals and re-evaluation planning.
  • Evaluate, plan and supervise treatments with physician-approved short- and long-term goals.
  • Maintain patient care records and ensure third-party reimbursement qualifications and state/federal requirements.
  • Consult with family, physicians and other health care professionals as appropriate.
  • Participate in in-service training and Quality Assurance activities.
  • Check safety, care and cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of OT procedures and professional standards through ongoing learning.

Education

Occupational Therapist (OT) for NHC HomeCare Chipley

The Occupational Therapist supervises and participates in the implementation of occupational therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with physical disabilities, injuries, or diseases.

Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited course in occupational therapy as certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Must be licensed / registered under the statutes of the state in which the occupational therapist will be practicing.
  • Active member of the State and National Occupational Therapy Associations preferred.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and supervises Occupational Therapy services.
  • Provides Occupational Therapy services as ordered by the referring physician and delegates appropriate portions of the treatment program to the licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Instructs the Occupational Therapy staff in their delegated functions including precautions, special problems, contraindications, anticipated progress goals and plan for re-evaluation.
  • Evaluates, plans and supervises treatments and programs including the establishment of short-term and long-term goals for patients as approved by the physician with periodic re-evaluations.
  • Maintains patient care records as designated by the HomeCare agency, assuring that third party reimbursement qualifications are met, as well as all state/federal requirements.
  • Consults with family members, physicians, and other health care professionals, as appropriate.
  • Participates in inservice training for Occupational Therapy.
  • Checks for safety, care and cleaning of equipment.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement activities.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary conferences to maintain continuity of patient care.
  • Provides Occupational Therapy services in accordance with all NHC HomeCare policies and procedures and state and federal guidelines.
  • Maintains knowledge base of HomeCare occupational therapy procedures and regulations as well as professional standards through attendance at workshops, and inservices and individual research and reading.
