Job summary

Christian Living Communities | Cappella Living Solutions seeks an Occupational Therapist to plan, organize, and conduct therapy programs for residents with diverse mental, physical, and emotional needs. This role centers on building trust-based relationships within our community.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Occupational Therapist state license; CPR certification.
  • Physical stamina to lift, transfer, and assist residents through physical activities.
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, including assisting residents when needed.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with residents in person and over the phone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of residents and reading information from printed sources and computer.

  • Addresses aspects of a patient's performance to support engagement in daily occupations that affect health, well-being, and quality of life.
  • Selects and adapts the appropriate treatment model, method, and approach for each individual, guiding the intervention process.
  • Applies interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).
  • Teaches residents new ways of approaching tasks, helping break activities down into achievable, confidence-building components.
  • Takes time to understand each patient's goals, home life, and personal preferences to create a treatment approach that truly fits them.
  • Assesses residents home and other environments and advises on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities.
  • Recommends adaptive equipment and trains residents in its use with patience and encouragement.
  • Guides and educates family members and caregivers, building trusting relationships that extend support beyond the treatment session.
  • Observes, notes, and reports on progress toward long- and short-term treatment goals.
  • Collects data and documents processes followed.
  • Documents patient care services according to approved medical and facility documentation procedures.
  • Collaborates closely with fellow team members, contributing to a supportive, inclusive workplace culture where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are welcomed and celebrated.
