Job summary

Buckeye Elementary School District seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapist to deliver educational OT services across district campuses.

You will evaluate students with physical, developmental, and learning disabilities; develop and implement IEP-aligned intervention plans; and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to maximize student independence and functional performance in the school environment.

Qualifications

• Accredited degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Valid AOTCB certification and Arizona OT licensure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• School-based experience preferred; preschool experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Buckeye Elementary School District is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to deliver educational OT services across district campuses. In this role, you will evaluate students with physical, developmental, and learning disabilities; develop and implement IEP‑aligned intervention plans; and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to maximize student independence and functional performance in the school environment. You will also provide direct supervision to one Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

Your Role Will Include:

• Conducting standardized evaluations and clinical observations to assess students’ functional performance in the educational setting.
• Writing evaluation reports and maintaining timely documentation including therapy notes, IEP paperwork, and Medicaid billing.
• Developing and implementing evidence-based intervention plans aligned with IEP goals, using a continuum of service delivery approaches in the least restrictive environment.
• Collaborating with teachers, parents, and school teams to support student success.
• Recommending and supporting adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
• Supervising one COTA, including monitoring program implementation.
• Attending IEP meetings and maintaining regular communication with team members and families.
• Monitoring the implementation of educational programs by Health Aides and other instructional staff to maintain student health and performance.
• Evaluating, modifying, and documenting the effectiveness of OT interventions as they relate to each student’s educational program.
• Facilitating transitions across service settings, including early intervention to preschool, preschool to school age, and school to work.

Qualifications:

• Accredited degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Valid AOTCB certification and Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners licensure (OT).
• Valid Arizona driver’s license.
• School-based experience required; preschool experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supervising or working alongside a COTA preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a school team.

Salary and Benefits:

• $71,563 per year | Full-Time.
