The Occupational Therapist prescribes and implements a treatment program which is designed to return patients to their maximum level of function. The Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to maximize patient and team outcomes. The Occupational Therapist runs Occupational Therapy Groups as well as some individualized treatment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

• Conduct occupational therapy evaluation procedures according to professional guidelines.
• Select evaluation procedures that reflect understanding of the patient’s diagnosis, abilities, and limitations.
• Administer evaluation procedures according to standardized test guidelines and adapt as needed.
• Interpret evaluation results, develop an integrated diagnostic impression, and make recommendations.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding evaluation findings and management recommendations.
• Formulate treatment goals and plans that reflect the patient’s unique psychological and functional deficits.
• Establish measurable short and long‑term goals in collaboration with patients and/or caregivers.
• Modify goals as warranted by patient status changes.
• Assess discharge needs of patients and caregivers, including insurance issues, equipment needs, follow‑up appointments, and community services.
• Communicate patient care and discharge needs to team members; arrange appropriate follow‑up.
• Select and adapt the appropriate occupational therapy treatment model, method, and approach to direct interventions.
• Use objective evaluation techniques to assess occupational limitations and medical conditions.
• Complete all necessary clinical documentation accurately and timely.
• Implement comprehensive individual and group treatment.
• Establish treatment priorities based on evaluation results and specific patient needs.
• Develop treatment plans, measure progress, and make adjustments as needed.
• Use creative treatment approaches and explore alternative solutions to individual patient problems.
• Demonstrate clinical problem‑solving skills with a variety of patient problems and substantiate actions taken.
• Progress patient treatment programs appropriately and terminate as warranted by progress and condition.
• Develop and instruct patients and caregivers in home programs and/or use of recommended equipment.
• Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with all patients.
• Engage patients in treatment, provide reinforcement and support, and set limits appropriately.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for the age groups regularly served.
• Notify supervisor/manager when patients outside regularly served age groups are present and seek assistance from specialists.
• Adhere to diagnosis‑related precautions and demonstrate good judgment in potentially hazardous situations.
• Seek feedback and monitor clinical supplies, requesting replacements in a timely manner.
• Teach clients new task approaches and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Show evidence of ongoing professional growth and knowledge of regulations and standards.
• Initiate independent learning opportunities and integrate new information into daily practice.
• Communicate learning needs to supervisor and stay current with advances in occupational therapy treatments.
• Show knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations governing occupational therapy practice.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by the certified occupational therapy assistant.
• Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to provide high‑quality patient care.
• Serve as a clinical resource for other health care professionals on assigned floors.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education)

• Ability to manage patients with different personality types.

Compensation Range

$37.50- $54.33. This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. The approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, considering education, experience, skills, and certifications or licenses directly related to position requirements, as well as business and organizational needs, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
