Job summary

BrightStar Care in Bowie, TX is seeking a PRN Pediatric Occupational Therapist to provide one-on-one home-based OT services to children across the Bowie area.

You’ll work with families, caregivers, and our clinical team to develop individualized treatment plans that support developmental progress, functional independence, and participation in daily activities. Hours are flexible and based on patient needs.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Occupational Therapist license in Texas.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your schedule effectively.
• Excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English.
• Reliable transportation and travel to patients' homes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate children’s developmental, functional, sensory, motor, and self-care abilities.
• Develop individualized OT treatment plans based on developmental needs and goals.
• Provide therapy to support fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, and visual-motor skills.
• Help children develop skills for dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and daily activities.
• Incorporate play-based activities and recommend adaptive equipment when needed.
• Educate families on exercises and strategies to support progress between visits.
• Document visits and maintain compliance with clinical standards.

Role Overview

As a PRN Pediatric Occupational Therapist at BrightStar Care, you will provide one-on-one occupational therapy services to children in the comfort of their own homes throughout the Bowie area.

You’ll work closely with children, parents, caregivers, and our clinical team to develop individualized treatment plans that support developmental progress, functional independence, participation in daily activities, and overall quality of life.

This opportunity offers the flexibility to accept visits based on your availability and patient needs. It’s an excellent fit for an occupational therapist looking for supplemental income, additional flexibility, or the ability to build their schedule around other professional commitments.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate children’s developmental, functional, sensory, motor, and self-care abilities.
• Identify areas of need that may impact a child’s ability to participate in age-appropriate daily activities.
• Develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on each child’s developmental needs and goals.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to support fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, sensory processing, visual-motor skills, and functional independence.
• Help children develop age-appropriate skills related to dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, play, school-related activities, and other activities of daily living.
• Incorporate play-based and developmentally appropriate therapeutic activities into treatment sessions.
• Recommend adaptive equipment, therapeutic tools, and environmental modifications when appropriate.
• Educate parents and caregivers on exercises, activities, positioning, sensory strategies, and techniques to support progress between visits.
• Monitor developmental and functional progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, physicians, therapists, and other members of the child’s care team.
• Document visits accurately and in accordance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and professional standards.
• Provide compassionate, family-centered care while working independently in the home environment.
• Accept visits based on your availability and patient needs.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a compassionate, dependable, and pediatric-focused Occupational Therapist who enjoys helping children reach developmental and functional milestones while partnering with their families.

Required:

• Current, unrestricted Occupational Therapist license in the State of Texas.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your schedule effectively.
• Excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to patients’ homes throughout the service area.

Preferred:

• Previous pediatric occupational therapy experience.
• Pediatric home health or outpatient pediatric therapy experience.
• Experience working with children with developmental delays, sensory processing needs, neurological conditions, or other pediatric diagnoses.
• Experience with developmental milestone assessment and intervention.
• Additional pediatric certifications or specialized occupational therapy training.

This is a PRN, home-based Pediatric Occupational Therapist position serving children throughout the Bowie, Texas area.

You’ll have the flexibility to accept available patient visits based on your schedule and patient needs. Hours and visits are not guaranteed and may vary based on patient census and availability.
