Job summary

Sunshine ABA Therapy Inc. in Bloomington, IN, seeks a licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapist to evaluate, treat, and support children across clinic and program settings. The role includes comprehensive assessments, development of individualized plans, and collaboration with families and the interdisciplinary team.

You will work closely with BCBAs, SLPs, PTs, RBTs, teachers, and caregivers; maintain thorough documentation and contribute to ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Active state OT license required.
  • NBCOT certification preferred.
  • Pediatric experience in clinic, school, or early intervention preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive OT evaluations using standardized and non-standardized tools.
  • Assess fine motor skills, sensory processing, ADLs, visual-motor integration, and functional independence.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and family goals.
  • Interpret assessment data and communicate findings clearly to caregivers and team members.
  • Provide 1:1 or group OT sessions focused on sensory regulation, fine motor development, gross motor coordination, visual-motor integration, self-help and daily living skills.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions and adapt activities/environments to support client success.
  • Collaborate with BCBAs, SLPs, PTs, RBTs, teachers and caregivers; participate in team meetings and treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, compliant documentation including evaluation reports, treatment plans, daily notes, and progress reports.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
1. Evaluation & Assessment
  • Conduct comprehensive OT evaluations using standardized and non‑standardized tools.
  • Assess fine motor skills, sensory processing, ADLs, visual‑motor integration, and functional independence.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and family goals.
  • Interpret assessment data and communicate findings clearly to caregivers and team members.
2. Direct Treatment
  • Provide 1:1 or group OT sessions focused on:
  • Sensory regulation
  • Fine motor development
  • Gross motor coordination
  • Visual‑motor integration
  • Self‑help and daily living skills
  • Feeding and oral‑motor skills (if trained)
  • Implement evidence‑based interventions aligned with best practices.
  • Adapt activities and environments to support client success.
3. Collaboration & Interdisciplinary Work
  • Work closely with BCBAs, SLPs, PTs, RBTs, teachers, and caregivers.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning.
  • Provide OT‑related recommendations to support behavior plans, sensory diets, and classroom strategies.
  • Train staff on OT strategies when appropriate.
4. Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation including:
  • Evaluation reports
  • Treatment plans
  • Daily session notes
  • Progress reports
  • Ensure documentation meets Medicaid, insurance, and organizational standards.
  • Track progress toward goals and update plans as needed.
5. Family & Caregiver Support
  • Provide caregiver coaching and home‑program recommendations.
  • Educate families on sensory strategies, fine motor activities, and functional routines.
  • Communicate progress and concerns in a professional, supportive manner.
6. Professionalism & Development
  • Maintain OT licensure and continuing education requirements.
  • Stay current with best practices in pediatric OT, sensory integration, and developmental therapy.
  • Participate in staff trainings, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
  • Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
  • Active state OT license
  • NBCOT certification
  • Pediatric experience (clinic, school, or early intervention)
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Sensory Integration (SI) training or certification
  • Feeding therapy experience
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with ABA environments
