Supplemental Health Care has partnered with a school district in Alexandria, VA to hire an Occupational Therapist.

This School-Based Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy services to students within the educational environment to support their ability to participate successfully in academic, social, and daily school activities. The OT collaborates with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote students’ functional independence, access to the curriculum, and overall school performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate students to identify fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-care, and functional skills that impact educational performance
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized occupational therapy intervention plans aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans
Provide direct and consultative therapy services in classrooms, therapy rooms, and other school environments
Collaborate with teachers, special educators, administrators, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and other related service providers
Recommend and support the use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and assistive technology
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and progress reviews
Provide training and consultation to staff and families regarding strategies to support students’ functional performance
Ensure services are delivered in accordance with IDEA, state regulations, and district policies
