Job summary

At Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, WI, the Safety & Risk Control internship offers hands-on experience with a mentor to learn risk control and occupational safety while engaging with company leadership at social events.

You'll conduct safety walkthroughs, inspections, and develop actionable reports to help clients reduce exposures, collaborating across units and with sales teams to advise customers on safe practices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• Minimum in-major GPA of 3.00.
• Expected graduation date May 2028.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
• Clear MVR and background check.

Responsibilities

• Partner with experienced safety consultants across multiple Sentry business units to learn the ropes of risk control.
• Conduct safety walkthroughs and facility inspections across diverse industries, including property, workers' compensation, liability, auto, and others.
• Prepare technical reports and develop actionable recommendations to help customers minimize safety exposures.
• Gain exposure to evaluating different lines of insurance risk, including property, workers' compensation, liability, and auto.
• Team up with sales associates to consult directly with customers on workplace safety principles.

Job description

In this internship, you'll gain hands-on experience and work with a mentor to learn all about Risk Control/Occupational Safety, and network with leadership at social events.

What You'll Do

As a Risk Control/Occupational Safety intern, you'll gain hands-on safety and insurance experience. Here's a look at what you'll be doing:

• Partner with experienced safety consultants across multiple Sentry business units to learn the ropes of risk control.
• Conduct safety walkthroughs and facility inspections across diverse industries, including property, workers compensation, liability, auto, and others.

• Gain deep exposure to evaluating different lines of insurance risk, including property, workers' compensation, liability, and auto.
• Team up with sales associates to consult directly with customers on the principles that keep workplaces safe.

What it Takes

To be considered for this position, the following criteria are necessary:

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
• Obtain a minimum in-major GPA of 3.00
• Expected graduation date of May 2028
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere
• Clear MVR and background check
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience
