Job summary

U.S Air Force in Maxwell AFB, AL seeks an Occupational Medicine Physician to promote wellness and prevent health issues in the workplace. You will collaborate with industrial hygienists and public health teams to deliver preventive care and medical guidance for airmen.

The role requires an MD or DO, plus an MPH and a year of graduate medical education in a clinical specialty. Training to become a commissioned officer is included at Officer Training School in Alabama.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Master’s degree (MPH) in public health or equivalent.
  • One year of graduate medical education in a clinical specialty at a hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with industrial hygienists, public health and safety specialists to deliver excellent occupational healthcare and preventive services
  • Directs health education and control measures for preventable diseases and injuries
  • Provides guidance on nutrition, food service sanitation, water supply safety, immunizations and other community health issues
  • Provide medical advice and guidance to bioenvironmental engineering, public health and other organizations

REQUIREMENTS

You must meet several requirements before joining the Air Force. These concern your background, overall health and other standards set by the Air Force, Department of Defense and federal law.

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathic medicine, a master’s degree or equivalent in public health and complete one year of graduate medical education in a clinical specialty at a hospital
