Job summary

St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System is seeking an Occupational Medicine Advanced Practice Provider to integrate job-specific health with primary care. The role covers acute injuries, fitness-for-duty exams, and return-to-work planning while managing chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

Candidate must hold an APRN/PA license with national certification and state practice license, with a preference for 1 year of physician extender experience. New graduates are considered.

Qualifications

• 1 Year Working as a physician extender - Preferred
• New graduates will be given consideration
• Professional License with State of Practice - Required
• Advance Practice License (NP or PA) - Required
• National Certification (i.e. ANCC, AANPCP or NCCPA) - Required

Responsibilities

• Acute Injury & Illness Management: Diagnose and treat workplace injuries alongside general acute illnesses.
• Chronic Disease Care: Manage hypertension, diabetes, and mental health conditions to optimize overall worker health.
• Regulatory & Fitness Exams: Perform DOT exams, OSHA surveillance, fitness-for-duty, and pre-employment physicals.
• Return-to-Work Coordination: Evaluate injured employees to determine safe physical restrictions and modified duties.
• Patient Education & Preventative Counseling: Guide patients on workplace safety, ergonomics, lifestyle changes, and chronic disease management.
• Care Coordination & Referrals: Facilitate referrals to medical specialists, physical therapy, or community social agencies.
• Collaborative Compliance: Partner with supervising physicians, employers, and insurance case managers to navigate workers' compensation regulations.
