Position Reportsto: Director of Occupational Health

Department Description: Wilson Health's Occupational Health Department provides comprehensive occupational health services that benefit both employers and employees, reducing absenteeism and turnover, increasing productivity, morale, and job satisfaction, while decreasing sickness and injuries among employees.

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Occupational Health/Urgent Care (OHS), the Worker's Compensation Specialist is responsible for ICD-10 and CPT coding of all work-related injuries and illnesses and Urgent Care patients, verifying responsible party/insurance information, and managing claim and treatment authorizations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain patient confidentiality.
  2. Use Epic EMR system.
  3. Complete coding of all OHS/Urgent Care visits according to content and coding principles, and fax to relevant parties.
  4. Enter claim data into Systoc, including claim number, injury details, and authorizations.
  5. Consult with providers on coding questions and perform chart analysis.
  6. Enter Worker's Compensation charges and codes in Epic.
  7. Respond to inquiries from hospital staff, providers, insurance companies, and patients, resolving account questions.
  8. Generate monthly reports for the Director of OHS/UC.
  9. Update customer and patient addresses.
  10. Assist with departmental activities such as replacing the receptionist during breaks and filing.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in billing/coding in Worker's Compensation/Occupational Health.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Familiarity with Systoc preferred.
