Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks a registered nurse to join the Employee Health team, performing occupational health duties and medical surveillance for area employees. The role requires nursing licensure in Connecticut and experience in occupational health, with BSN preferred.

Key duties include cross-training, conducting assessments, protective health surveillance, and collaboration with the clinical coordinator to enforce high-quality patient and company protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years nursing experience with 1 year recent experience in an occupational or employee health setting.
• Current State Of Connecticut Registered Nursing License. BLS Required.
• Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Cross train and work in Employee Health as scheduled.
• Conduct individualized nursing assessments for work injuries/illnesses and medical surveillance.
• Communicate significant assessment data with other staff.
• Seek assistance when care needs exceed scope of own experience and knowledge.
• Recognize subtle signs of imminent danger and/or change in health status.
• Identify problems and participate in problem solving.
• Collaborate with Clinical Coordinator to establish and implement high-quality patient/company protocols/guidelines.
• Demonstrate the ability to function independently.
• Demonstrate commitment to collaborative practice among physician, nurse, APRN/PA, employer, medical assistants, case managers, administrative staff and carriers.
• Demonstrate competency in performing spirometry, audiometry, EKG, urine drug collection screen, breath alcohol testing, and workers' compensation case management.
• Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization and staff and self development as outlined in performance review.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
