MercyCare in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a full-time Occupational Health Nurse to join MercyCare Prairie Creek. You will perform nursing duties, take vitals, collect medical history and assist providers with procedures.

Responsibilities include occupational health tests, drug screens, spirometry, and accuracy in nursing documentation, with collaboration among employers and case managers. 1–2 years clinical experience and RN license required; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of general nursing experience in a clinical setting.
• BSN preferred; Iowa RN license required.
• Current BLS certification and mandatory reporter training.
• Experience in occupational health is preferred.

## Occupational Health Nurse - Full-TimeApply: MercyCare Prairie Creek: Full time: Posted Today: JR105235**Work Shift**Day**Scheduled Weekly Hours**40**Summary**This job supports Mercy’s philosophy of patient centered care by offering excellent customer service and quality care to every patient, provider, employer and case manager who chooses MercyCare for their occupational health needs.**Job Description****Job Duties/Essential Functions*** **Job Duties** + Performs nursing duties to include rooming patients, taking vitals, collecting medical history, performing EKG exams, and assisting provider with procedures. + Performs all laboratory procedures up to moderately complex as assigned by clinic. + Performs occupational health nursing duties to include, but not limited to, drug screens, breath alcohols, hearing tests, vision tests, agility tests, and spirometry tests. + Collects workers compensation insurance information and/or self-pay billing requirements from employers/patients. + Obtains prior authorizations for additional testing/referrals needed for those patients that are seen for injuries in the workplace. + Identifies operational issues and proposes solutions to management as needed. + Trains new employees and/or students. + Orders supplies for the clinic/provider when needed. + Advises on quality and safety improvement ideas to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to required training programs, lab procedures and general occupational medicine processes. + Participates in departmental meetings/updates and presents the needs and concerns of the occupational health nurse role. + Completes all nursing documentation and visit charges in a timely manner. + Collaborates and communicates with employers, insurance companies, third party groups, and case managers regarding the status of employee injury visits and/or results of testing/physicals for employment.* Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*** Understanding of general nursing policies and procedures related to occupational health needs.* Detail oriented to comply with client specifications and needs.* Knowledge of state and federal nursing and occupational health regulations.* Computer skills, including electronic health record.**Professional Experience*** Required: 1-2 years of experience performing general nursing functions in a clinical setting. Preferred: Experience in occupational health.**Education*** Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.**Licensure, Certification, Registration*** Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa or compact state required.* Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), in accordance with the American Heart Association required.* Occupational Health Nurse or Case Manager Certification preferred.* Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required.
