Qualifications

• Experience in community health, ambulatory care, critical care or emergency nursing preferred.

• Occupational health nursing, case management or BLS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer first aid and CPR in medical emergencies; supervise plant first aid coverage and training.
• Provide initial assessment of on‑the‑job injuries or illnesses and refer for further evaluation.
• Coordinate administrative and medical case management for workers' comp or disability programs.
• Manage transitional return-to-work activities and monitor full duty status.
• Coordinate medical surveillance programs (audiograms, eye exams, etc.).
• Partner with EHS on injury/illness prevention, training and communication programs.
• Coordinate health promotion/wellness programs.
• Review pre-placement questionnaires and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
• Collaborate with management on health and safety issues such as accident investigation and risk management.

Position Summary:

• A registered nurse who functions as the occupational health nurse for a facility and is responsible to administer occupational health services.


• The occupational health nurse assesses the health needs of the employee, population and worksite. He/She will ensure health programs are in accordance to Company Policy, Standards and applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer first aid and CPR in the event of medical emergencies. Supervise plant first aid coverage and training.


• Provide initial assessment of on-the-job injuries or non-occupational illnesses and refer for further evaluation as necessary.


• Coordination of administrative and medical case management for workers compensation/injury management or non-occupational disability programs inclusive of first report of injury, coordination of medical care, case follow up, liaison with internal staff/external health care providers and insurance administrators.


• Manage transitional return to work activities, identifying alternative modified work options and monitor to optimized full duty status. May need to complete job analysis within the scope of nursing assessments.


• Coordinate and monitor medical surveillance programs, i.e. audiograms, eye exams, etc. as required by company standards.


• Partner with Environment, Health + Safety on injury/illness prevention, training and communication programs i.e. blood borne pathogen, CPR/first aid, etc.


• Coordinate health promotion/wellness programs.


• Conduct pre-placement questionnaires review fitness for duty evaluations.


• Collaborate with management on compatible goals and objectives. Participate in meetings regarding issues of health and safety, such as: accident investigation, risk management, ergonomics, and health promotion.

Qualification & Experience:

• Current state registered nurse license to practice in the state of employment.


• Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.


• 3-5 years of experience at occupational health nursing in an occupational health manufacturing setting.


• Experience in community health, ambulatory care, critical care or emergency nursing preferred.


• Ability to work with a team and/or independently.


• Certifications in occupational health nursing, case management and basic life support preferred.


• Ability to make independent nursing judgements, perform basic physical assessments, problem solve, and have strong time management skills.


• Strong computer, verbal and written skills to communicate.


• Good time management, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments.Position is offered by a no fee agency.
