Job summary

The Occupational Medical Clinic of Tacoma is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver high‑quality occupational health care in a fast‑paced setting. This role supports work-related injury management, prevention, and safe return‑to‑work strategies in Fife, WA.

Responsibilities include pre‑employment/DOT exams, workers’ compensation coordination, and comprehensive patient care with emphasis on prevention and wellness.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• National board certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
• 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred (occupational medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care).
• DOT certification preferred or willing to obtain.
• Strong procedural skills (suturing, splinting, wound care) preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Perform pre-employment, DOT, and fit-for-duty physical examinations.
• Manage workers’ compensation cases, including documentation and coordination of care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory studies.
• Provide medical clearance and return-to-work assessments.
• Deliver preventative health counselling and workplace wellness education.
• Collaborate with employers, case managers, and rehabilitation specialists.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the EMR system.
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
