Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports comprehensive workers compensation case management (Fondo del Seguro del Estado - FSE) for employees injured at work in compliance with United States and Puerto Rico laws and regulations.
- Responsible for drugs and alcohol screenings, as requested, in accordance with local regulations and Company policies; participates in special projects including health fairs, health screenings, wellness education, safety improvement initiatives, etc.
- Performs vital signs assessment, treats wounds, and evaluates the physical condition of patients.
- Contacts physicians and hospitals to arrange further medical treatment when necessary.
- Maintains records of treated individuals and prepares accident reports and insurance forms.
- Ensures confidentiality of employee information by adhering to HIPAA and partner confidentiality policies, establishing, maintaining, and reviewing secure recordkeeping systems.
- Schedules health assessments and evaluations for return-to-work, fitness for duty, and medical surveillance in accordance with health management protocols and physician directives.
- Manages medical files and Occupational Health & Safety reports.
- Collaborates with Safety Staff to coordinate safety awareness initiatives.
- Maintains inventory of medical supplies and equipment to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations including OSHA and Worker's Compensation; maintains OSHA logs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversees the work performance of nursing staff, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), ensuring compliance with clinical and operational standards.
- Coordinates and approves work schedules of LPNs to ensure adequate coverage and efficiency.
- Provides ongoing guidance, support, and performance evaluations to promote professional development and adherence to policies.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Registered Nurse certification.
- Two (2) or more years of experience as an Occupational Nurse preferred.
Language Skills
Bilingual in Spanish and English, written and spoken.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in Internet, SAP, and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Active licensed nurse certification and membership in the Professional Nursing Organization.
- AED/CPR/First Aid Certification required.
