The University of Tennessee Medical Center is a tertiary academic medical center serving as a referral hub for Eastern Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina regions.
The inpatient obstetric service is staffed by labor and delivery nurses, patient care technicians, OB/Gyn providers, and resident physicians, with 24-hour anesthesia and neonatal care availability.
The Laborist coverage offers dedicated oversight and a team focused on managing patients in labor during their shift. Our hybrid model emphasizes quality, safety, and education in women's healthcare, expanding beyond obstetrics to include complex gynecologic medical and surgical management. The Academic OB/Gyn Hospitalist role includes labor and delivery shifts, gynecology service coverage, resident clinic oversight, and departmental leadership.
Ideal candidates are experienced physicians committed to patient care and resident education, possessing excellent clinical and teaching skills, comfortable in an evidence-based academic environment with students, residents, fellows, advanced practice nurses, midwives, and colleagues.
