The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General (CCAG) is seeking an Ob/Gyn Hospitalist for our New Life Center. The CCAG New Life Center is a Level 3 Perinatal Center performing approximately 1800 deliveries per year. Candidates should be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with clinical experience supporting the full scope of hospital-based obstetrical and acute gynecologic care. This person shall exercise leadership and direction in all appropriate patient care, professional, and academic activities related to medical care delivery.
The Ob/Gyn Hospitalist and Teaching Faculty at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center are responsible for supervising care in the Obstetric Emergency Department, Labor and Delivery, and ensuring perinatal safety throughout the hospital. Responsibilities include responding to Ob/Gyn emergencies, managing admissions from the Women’s Health Clinic and walk-in patients, supporting obstetrical practices, providing emergency care until private attending physicians arrive, collaborating with Maternal Fetal Medicine for hospital transfers, and offering OB/GYN consultations hospital-wide.
The role balances clinical and academic duties, including supervising OB/GYN residents and medical students. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience is available at Northeastern Ohio Medical University.
Typical shifts are 36-48 hours per week, with 12 to 24-hour shifts for continuous coverage. Flexible employment options, such as nocturnist or part-time positions, are considered. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and national data for OB/GYN Hospitalists.
