Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking an Obstetrical Technologist to assist in patient care, surgical services, and delivery room activities under RN supervision. You will perform the scrub role during procedures, assist in deliveries, and ensure supplies and equipment are prepared for specialized obstetrical care.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, analytical ability, and strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Analytical ability.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must be able to interact effectively with others in difficult situations.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred (except current Obstetrical Surgical Techs as of 9/1/2013).

Responsibilities

• Applies the correct principles of aseptic technique.
• Establishes and protects the sterile field and back table at all times.
• Recognizes breaks in technique and reports to RN.
• Handles instruments and draping materials using aseptic technique.
• Assists in opening sterile supplies.
• Assists in surgical cases and scrubbing procedures.
• Maintains patient dignity and safety.
• Transports supplies and specimens as required.
