POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position supports the Service Life and Obsolescence (SLO) Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) and the All-Up-Round (AUR) Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE). The primary responsibilities of the position will be to execute APMSE duties in support of the Missile Systems Service Life and Obsolescence Team. The SLO Team addresses all obsolescence and service life related issues for the Tomahawk Missile Systems Team which oversees both Production (ACAT 1C) and Recertification (ACAT II) of Tomahawk AURs. APMSE responsibilities include proactively addressing the SLO IPTL and AUR APMSE priorities, achieving cost/schedule/performance goals for all efforts within the SLO Team, leading the SLO Engineering Team across multiple activities and sites, implementing properly tailored Systems Engineering processes per IEEE 15288.1 and NAVAIR guidance across all SLO activities, engaging NAVAIR and NAVSEA technical authorities to obtain technical recommendations for SLO tasking, and engaging the AUR APMSE and PMA-280 Assistant Program Manage for Engineering (APME) for formal technical decisions and approvals.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • SLO APMSE duties will include monitoring the Tomahawk AUR obsolescence program to identify future issues that need to be addressed, proactively working those issues to closure, and actively coordinating with the Production and Recertification IPTs for seamless integration of all obsolescence efforts.
  • Assisting in the generation of Program Objective Memorandum (POM) submissions to obtain funding, working with the prime contractor and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to develop project plans, generating engineering inputs for contract actions to implement those plans, and providing engineering oversight for the implementation and fielding per the project plans.
  • Assuming responsibility for the engineering related efforts for the Tomahawk AUR Service Life Assessment Program (SLAP). This includes the identification of service life limited items, coordination of service life related testing across multiple sites and activities for those items, engaging Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) SMEs for the assessment of test results, proactively working and communicating service life related issues identified via the SLAP program that would impact Production or Recertification of Tomahawk AURs.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT:

  • Position requires semi-frequent travel (CONUS) as needed to support various working groups. Not to exceed 40 hours per month (one week).

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position. Demonstrated knowledge in an area of engineering expertise is required.

Highly desired:

  • Team assignment progression of increasing responsibility involving direct interaction with program/project office & engineering disciplines in application of systems engineering, safety, airworthiness, acquisition, and program management processes.
  • Multiple team leadership roles leading multi-discipline teams.
  • 3 to 5 years of proven sustained performance in a relevant subsystem SE (i.e. APMSE) role.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant Naval Aviation experience in an engineering discipline.
  • APMSE rotational assignments.

EDUCATION:

  • MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Allowable Substitution: BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience may be substituted for a MS or MA degree. These four (4) years of experience are in addition to the required minimum of ten (10) years to meet the experience requirement, requiring a total of fourteen (14) years of experience.

SECURITY:

  • Active TS//SCI clearance with current background investigation is desired.
  • At minimum, Active Top-Secret clearance with current background investigation is required.
