Job summary

National Solar Observatory in Maui, HI is seeking a Facilities and Maintenance Technician II to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks for the DKIST observatory. You will help keep critical environments clean and operable, including specialized cleanroom areas and general facilities, under supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining interiors, equipment checks, safety compliance, and assisting senior technicians with supplies and minor repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or vocational school completed.
• Experience in an industrial environment or facility maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints or sketches and follow instructions.
• General maintenance tools, materials, methods and practices knowledge.
• Basic computer skills and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and operability of the observatory facility and equipment.
• Perform cleanroom cleaning and standard janitorial tasks.
• Follow safety standards and use PPE as required.
• Assist senior technicians with maintenance and supplies as needed.
• Document cleaning activities and inventory in the system.
