Job summary

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in College Park, MD is seeking an IT Specialist (Observation and Data Specialist) to monitor environmental observation IT software and manage customer service performance. This role supports 24x7 operations and the NWS switching system and surface observation infrastructure.

The position is designated as an Emergency Employee and may require relocation to an alternate facility.

Qualifications

• College Transcript: If you are qualifying based on education, submit a copy of your college transcript that lists college courses detailing each course by the number and department (i.e., Bio 101, Math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours and grade earned.
• An official college transcript will be required before you can report to duty. Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• monitor Information Technology (IT) software related to environmental observations and services.
• Maintain problem tracking and resolution systems, including the management of customer service performance requirements.
• Ensure effective around-the-clock/24x7 operational support of the NWS switching system, surface observation systems, web infrastructure, and other operational distributed architecture systems.
