Job summary

The Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES) in Oklahoma City seeks an Observability Engineer to build and continuously improve monitoring across server, cloud, and network environments using Datadog or similar tools.

You will instrument infrastructure, create dashboards, tune alerts, and collaborate with IT teams to reduce incidents and improve reliability. This hands-on role requires strong scripting knowledge and experience with AWS/Azure/GCP fundamentals.

Qualifications

Experience building and maintaining monitoring and observability for server, cloud, and network environments.
Hands-on experience with telemetry collection (metrics, logs, traces) and incident response.
Ability to design dashboards and alerts for diverse stakeholder groups.
Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to refine monitoring logic.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain monitoring and observability tooling across server, cloud, and network environments.
Instrument infrastructure, applications, and services with metrics, logs, traces, and synthetic checks.
Build and maintain dashboards for engineers, managers, and leadership.
Configure alert thresholds and escalation policies to balance speed and noise.
Integrate monitoring with incident management and on-call systems.
