Job summary

State of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City seeks an Observability Engineer to design and improve monitoring across server, cloud, and network environments. You will instrument systems with metrics, logs, traces, and dashboards using Datadog and similar tools, turning telemetry into actionable insights that reduce incidents.

You will collaborate with IT teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and faster incident response, building on-call workflows and clear health signals for leadership and engineers

Qualifications

• 3+ years in infrastructure monitoring, observability, or IT operations.
• Hands-on experience with Datadog or comparable platforms.
• Cloud fundamentals (AWS/Azure/GCP) and network basics.
• Experience building dashboards, alerts, and incident response workflows.
• Scripting or query languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, PromQL).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain monitoring tooling across server, cloud, and network environments.
• Instrument infrastructure, applications, and services with metrics, logs, traces, and synthetic checks.
• Build dashboards for engineers, managers, leadership.
• Configure alert thresholds and escalation policies.
• Integrate monitoring tools with incident management and on-call systems.
