Job summary

Inova Health System is seeking a dedicated Sonographer to join the OBGYN team in a full-time capacity. The role emphasizes clear patient communication, high-quality imaging, and collaboration with obstetric procedures within a hospital setting.

The candidate should be a graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, with BLS at start and certification/eligibility in ARRT/ARDMS/RDMS or RVT within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• BLS certification required at start; ARRT/ARDMS/RDMS or RVT certification or eligibility within 18 months of hire.
• Recent hospital/healthcare experience as a sonographer or student; OB/GYN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with patients to obtain history and informed consent to support physicians in examinations.
• Explain procedures to patients and families to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
• Assist physicians in examinations using department protocols, precautions and sterile technique.
• Recognize issues that may affect exams and take action to ensure optimal outcomes.
