Erie Family Health Centers, a top workplace in Chicago and suburbs, is looking for a valuable addition to our OBGYN team! The OBGYN Hospitalist provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic healthcare services, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. Hospital practice includes labor and delivery, gynecologic consultation, and surgery relevant to general obstetrics and gynecology. This physician serves as an expert consultant for other primary healthcare providers at Erie, referring patients to specialists as necessary, documenting all patient care activities including telehealth, and maintaining a productivity level necessary to reach mandated annual delivery targets.

*Compensation is based on each candidate’s experience, skills, and education within the identified range. Candidates meeting the minimum requirements will start at the entry level within the range. Additional skills, experience, and education will be reflected in the offered compensation.*

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide triage, antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum care according to protocols, maintaining active hospital privileges as requested.
  2. Perform history and physical exams.
  3. Manage acute and chronic illnesses per protocols.
  4. Provide telehealth triage for antepartum and postpartum issues.
  5. Support Family Physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives in delivery teams.
  6. Provide ER coverage as per hospital bylaws.
  7. Follow-up with healthcare providers or community agencies as needed.
  8. Keep accurate and timely records.
  9. Participate or lead interdisciplinary teams.
  10. Engage in ongoing Quality Improvement activities.
  11. Maintain Continuing Education Units for practice and certification.
  12. Complete Erie and hospital training for privileges.
  13. Understand procedures and guidelines for reproductive healthcare, ensuring quality and compliance with standards.
  14. Contribute to clinical protocol and policy development.
  15. Perform procedures such as contraceptive implant and IUD insertions/removals, postpartum sterilizations, with appropriate training and privileges.
  16. Precept learners and participate in faculty activities.
  17. Participate in annual performance reviews.
  18. Interpret Erie’s philosophy to staff and clients.
  19. Represent Erie externally as assigned.
  20. Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficiency in medical Spanish preferred.
  • Licensed physician in Illinois.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Experience and Education
  • At least 2 years of experience in community health or similar patient populations preferred.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology, MD or DO.
  • Comfortable covering a busy L&D unit.
