Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least one of: diploma from a Medical Assistant Program; minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience; Military Medic training; EMT-P training; or equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• Ability to assist with direct patient care and routine specialized medical procedures.
• Ability to measure and record vital signs.
• Ability to complete patient interviews and histories.
• Ability to prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments.
• Ability to collect blood, urine, and sputum samples.
• Ability to perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care.
• Perform routine specialized medical procedures according to established clinical protocols.
• Assist medical and nursing staff in examining and treating patients.
• Room patients and measure and record height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Complete patient interviews and histories.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments and explain procedures.
• Assist with physician-ordered procedures, examinations, treatments, and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms.
• Collect blood, urine, and sputum samples.
• Perform routine laboratory tests on patient samples.
