Job summary

Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY is seeking a Unit Aide to support the mother-baby unit. Under the direction of the registered nurse, you will provide direct patient care and collaborate with the care team to promote comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, ambulation, and preparing the surgical suite for cesarean births. Prior nursing assistant experience and BLS certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school level education is required.
• Experience as a nursing assistant or nursing student is preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to document care.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to mother-baby patients under RN supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Help with ambulation, turning, and preparing surgical suites for cesarean births.
• Maintain medical records and transcribe orders; answer phones and relay messages.
• May assist with discharge follow-ups and equipment orders.
