Job summary

George Washington University Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team in downtown Washington, DC. The role focuses on preparing supplies, equipment and instrumentation for cases, and assisting the surgical team throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include anticipating needs in the field, case cleanup, patient positioning and room turnovers, with opportunities for growth and career development within UHS and its subsidiaries.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or NBSTSA certification or degree from an accredited nursing program or equivalent.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.

Position Summary

To meet the needs of the customer by having knowledge of the surgical procedure, preparing supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for surgical cases. Anticipates the needs in the surgical field when passing instruments, and assist the surgical team in all procedures. The surgical technician is responsible for his/her case clean up, for positioning patients, moving patients and room turnovers.

Qualifications

Education/Qualification

• High School diploma or equivalency
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or certification or degree from an accredited nursing program or equivalent
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is preferred

Skills
