Job summary

Sentara Health in Suffolk, VA is seeking an OB Technician to join the Labor and Delivery team for night shifts (7p–7a). This role provides both technical and patient care support across labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum settings, ensuring a safe and compassionate birthing experience.

The ideal candidate will hold a Nursing diploma or Surgical Technologist diploma with licensure as an LPN or Certified Surgical Technologist and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate compassionate patient care during labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum.
• Ability to collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams in a fast-paced obstetric setting.
• Experience with preparing and maintaining sterile fields and surgical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with labor and delivery procedures and provide technical support to the clinical team.
• Prepare, set up, and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments for deliveries and C-sections.
• Support patients and families with compassion and professionalism.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for patient care at all times.
• Work collaboratively with nurses and providers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
• Assist with patient admissions, vital signs, and general unit duties as needed.
