Job summary

Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Obstetrical Surgery Team. You will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and assist with pre- and post-operative tasks to support surgical maternal care.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, preparing equipment, handling specimens, coordinating with physicians and other disciplines, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• LPN license is required.
• Graduate from specialty training program is required.
• Obstetrical experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, including vital signs, measurements, bathing, feeding, and activities of daily living.
• Assist in coordinating treatments with other disciplines.
• Assist in operative and perioperative tasks, including preparing equipment, retracting and assisting with procedures, and handling specimens.
• Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments and verify counts with the circulating nurse.
• Ensure proper labeling of medications and solutions under supervision of the RN.
• Participate in admission and discharge processes and on-call rotations.
