Job summary

MedCadre is seeking a Surgical Tech with OB-focused experience to support scrub duties, sterile technique, and the preparation of surgical patients. You will assemble case carts, pass instruments, and maintain a sterile environment across cases, while handling specimens and turnover duties in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires OB experience in surgical tech and formal education in surgical technology; military training may substitute where applicable, with on-call or cross-department float

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year of OB experience as a Surgical Tech.
• 2 years of Surgical Tech experience, Must be strong in OB. Please include OB experience in resume/profile.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties and maintains sterile supplies and sterile technique.
• Assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients.
• Assembles, organizes and completes case carts according to doctor’s preference lists.
• Provides appropriate instrumentation, suture and all supplies as requested and provides and maintains a sterile environment.
• May assist surgeon by passing instruments to surgeon during cases.
• Counts sponges, needles, blades and instruments using proper technique and established policy.
• Assists in maintenance and care of specimens and prepares for laboratory analysis.
• Handles specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice.
• Assists with timely turnover of rooms, including clean up, replacement and restocking of supplies and equipment.
• Cares for instruments and equipment.
• Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
• May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

• Training in the US military may substitute for the completion of the formal surgical technologist training.
