Job summary

Mercy in Festus, MO is seeking an OB Scrub Tech to support obstetrical care. This part-time role involves assisting with surgical procedures, patient care, and clerical tasks under supervision of nursing and medical staff.

Responsibilities include maintaining supplies, charting, phlebotomy, birth certificate entries, and facilitating newborn and postpartum care. Requires HS diploma, BLS certification, and surgical technology experience; CST not required. This is a weekend/weekday day shift.

Qualifications

• High-School Diploma or GED required; this is a non-certified technologist position.
• May have attended and completed an accredited surgical tech program, but CST certification is not required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Surgical Technology experience required at hire or completion of a unit-based competency within 2 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist OB patients with clinical care and surgical procedures as part of the nursing team.
• Provide clerical support, maintain patient records, and ensure supplies and equipment are ready.
• Handle phlebotomy, Birth Certificate entry, patient transport, and related duties as assigned.
• Support newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients with ADL assistance as needed.

Find your calling at Mercy! Maintains professional accountability and technical support for provision of patient care for the OB patients experience. Under the direction of Nursing and Medical Staff, provide a wide variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support and surgical assistance. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team and recognizes the importance of unit goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient and the success of the unit. May assist in operational support tasks including maintenance of patient records, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, ensuring adequate supplies, phlebotomy, transport of specimens, patient transport, obtain blood glucose, Birth Certificate entry, and other duties as assigned. Support the nursing team and patients by providing supportive care and assistance with ADL's to newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, pediatric patients, and others as assigned. Maintains calm and works efficiently and effectively through obstetrical emergencies, as part of the team. May be required to take call. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Education
