Job summary

Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City seeks a Surgical Technologist (CST) for the Nights shift in Labor & Birth. You will provide patient care, clerical support, and surgical assistance while collaborating with nursing and medical staff in a high-energy OB unit.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs for mothers and newborns, maintaining records, and contributing to a safe, efficient operating environment. CST certification and BLS are required, with NBST program completion preferred.

Qualifications

• High-School Diploma or GED required; CST position.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program per NBST required; maintain certification.
• Proof of education may be requested.

Maintains professional accountability and technical support for provision of patient care for the OB patient's experience. Under the direction of Nursing and Medical Staff, provide a wide variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support and surgical assistance. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team and recognizes the importance of unit goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient and the success of the unit. May assist in operational support tasks including maintenance of patient records, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, ensuring adequate supplies, phlebotomy, transport of specimens, patient transport, obtain blood glucose, Birth Certificate entry, and other duties as assigned. Support the nursing team and patients by providing supportive care and assistance with ADLs to newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, pediatric patients, and others as assigned. Maintains calm and works efficiently and effectively through obstetrical emergencies, as part of the team. May be required to take call. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

We are high-paced, high-energy unit specializing in Obstetrics and Mother Baby, Well Newborn Care along Post Women’s Surgical unit. Within our unit we have: 40-MB rooms, 15-LDR rooms, 14-High Risk Antepartum, 8-bed OBED unit, 4-LIBC Birthing Suites, and 4-Pre Post Rooms 3-OR suites (where we circulate all of our own cases). We also have full-time Lactation Consultants who see both inpatient and outpatients. Mercy OKC is the leading delivering hospital in Oklahoma City and second leading in the Ministry. Our teams offer a comprehensive suite of services at the Love Family Women's Center.

Qualifications

• Education: High-School Diploma or GED is required. This is a certified technologist (CST) position. The Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program per the National Board of Surgical Technology is required. Maintain Certification without gaps. You may be asked to provide proof of education.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
• Experience: New graduate up to experienced surgical technologist experience.
• Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to perform job-related functions safely and successfully, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
