Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME is seeking a full-time OB Hospitalist to join its women’s health team. The OB Hospitalist will provide comprehensive inpatient obstetric care and labor and delivery coverage in Lewiston, ME.

The role involves collaboration with OB/GYNs, CNMs, nursing, anesthesia, neonatology, and ED teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered obstetric care in a supportive hospital environment, including access to a level two NICU and in-house anesthesia.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Fellowship training not required but preferred
• Eligible for Maine medical license
• Active DEA registration
• ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient obstetric care including labor management, triage evaluations, vaginal deliveries, emergency obstetric procedures, gynecological ER coverage, and postpartum care.
• Serve as the on-site physician for labor and delivery coverage, responding to obstetric emergencies and urgent patient care needs.
• Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians, CNMs, nursing teams, anesthesiology, neonatology, and hospital staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
• Perform obstetric procedures including operative vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections when indicated.
• Evaluate and manage obstetric patients presenting through the ED or labor and delivery triage.
• Participate in rounds, patient safety initiatives, and quality improvement programs for maternal and neonatal outcomes.
• Maintain timely documentation in the EMR and support system-wide protocols.
• Provide coverage across affiliated hospital campuses as part of an OB Hospitalist program.
