Job summary

UBMD Obstetrics & Gynecology in Buffalo seeks an experienced Triage Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team. The role centers on patient telephone and portal triage, with occasional in-person support, ensuring timely, patient-centered care and clear communication with providers.

Responsibilities include symptom assessment, care coordination, and medication management, while documenting all interactions in the EHR and adhering to NYS standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.
• Current New York State RN license.
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in an outpatient or OB/GYN setting.
• 1-3 years of triage experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Strong proficiency with computer and phone systems; ability to manage high call volumes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient symptoms and determine urgency, recommending appropriate care levels.
• Serve as a clinical liaison between patients and providers to maintain continuity of care.
• Provide nursing advice, education, and counseling to patients and families.
• Facilitate medication refills and prior authorizations per provider direction.
• Assist with referrals and coordination of multidisciplinary care; complete insurance prior authorizations.
• Accurately document communications, assessments, and interventions in the EHR; uphold safety standards.
