MaineHealth’s Maine Medical Center Portland seeks an innovative and collaborative physician educator to lead its OB/GYN Residency Program. The Program Director will balance 50 percent program leadership with 50 percent clinical practice, and hold an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.

The role emphasizes recruitment, educational excellence and preparation of future obstetrician-gynecologists, with a broad mandate to strengthen regional and national reputation.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree or equivalent medical degree.
• ACGME- or AOA-accredited OB/GYN residency completed.
• ABOG/AOBOG board certification or eligible.
• Eligible for unrestricted Maine medical license.
• Eligible for MaineHealth staff privileges.
• At least three years of educational/administrative experience.
• Active clinical activity in OB/GYN.
• Experience teaching and supervising residents/fellows.
• Commitment to professionalism and high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and educational leadership for the residency program.
• Lead resident recruitment and selection.
• Oversee curriculum and educational excellence.
• Assess resident advancement and provide support.
• Evaluate the program and pursue continuous improvement.
• Engage and develop faculty.
• Support scholarship, research and quality improvement.
• Administer accreditation and program administration.
• Maintain active clinical OB/GYN practice.
• Teach and supervise residents and medical students.
• Model professionalism, teamwork and sound clinical judgment.
• Participate in departmental call and service coverage.

Education

MD or DO degree

Maine medical license eligibility
