Job description

Generalist OB/GYN Physician
$470K–$490K Base Salary | Strong Surgical Volume | 1:7 Call | Redding, California

An established women's health practice in partnership with a leading nonprofit health system is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Obstetrician-Gynecologist to join its growing team in Redding, California.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a true OB/GYN Generalist who wants to maintain the full breadth of their specialty—from outpatient women's health and obstetrics to advanced gynecologic surgery—while joining an established practice with an immediate patient base of more than 12,000 women.

Physicians enjoy a strong surgical volume, approximately 2 full OR days each week, a favorable 1:7 call schedule, teaching opportunities, multidisciplinary clinical support, and the autonomy and agility of a private-practice environment.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Base Salary: $470,000–$490,000, commensurate with experience
  • Additional premium daily call stipend
  • Comprehensive recruitment package
  • Immediate, established patient base of 12,000+ women
  • Approximately 2 full surgical/OR days per week
  • Favorable 1:7 average call rotation
  • Full-scope Generalist OB/GYN practice
  • Strong mix of obstetrics, outpatient gynecology, and surgery
  • Minimally invasive surgical opportunities
  • Urogynecology exposure
  • Advanced fertility treatment services
  • Teaching opportunities with residents
  • Potential physician leadership opportunities
  • Multidisciplinary clinical support
  • Private-practice-style autonomy backed by the resources of a major healthcare system
  • Opportunity to develop and introduce new clinical services
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • No travel required
Clinical Practice

This opportunity is specifically designed for an OB/GYN who wants to remain a true generalist and maintain a diverse clinical and surgical practice.

You'll provide comprehensive women's healthcare across outpatient, obstetrical, and surgical settings.

Scope of Practice
  • Comprehensive Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Routine and high-quality outpatient women's healthcare
  • Obstetrical care
  • Gynecologic surgery
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Urogynecology
  • Advanced fertility treatment services
  • Full-spectrum generalist women's health

The practice is looking for a physician who enjoys both the clinical and surgical sides of OB/GYN rather than someone seeking a predominantly office-based position.

Strong Surgical Volume

One of the major differentiators of this opportunity is the ability to maintain a significant operative practice.

Physicians average approximately:

2 full OR days every week

This provides consistent surgical volume and makes the opportunity particularly attractive for generalists who want to continue developing and maintaining their operative skills.

Established Patient Base

You won't be starting from scratch.

The practice provides access to an established patient population of more than 12,000 women, creating immediate clinical volume and allowing the incoming physician to build a thriving practice from day one.

The organization's strong local reputation also provides a consistent referral base throughout Northern California.

Call & Hospital Responsibilities

Physicians participate in OB/GYN call coverage at the affiliated regional medical center.

  • Average call schedule of approximately 1:7
  • Additional premium daily call stipend
  • Collaborative relationship with hospital administration and maternal-child services
  • Teaching opportunities during hospital coverage

A separate OB/GYN Laborist opportunity is also available for physicians interested in a more hospital-focused practice model.

Collaborative, Multidisciplinary Care

Physicians work within a highly integrated team-care model designed around comprehensive women's health.

Clinical support includes:

  • Registered Nurses
  • Case Managers
  • Pelvic Physical Therapists
  • OB/GYN Sonographers
  • Hospital maternal-child teams
  • Family Medicine residents
  • Physician colleagues and specialists

The organization places a strong emphasis on collaboration and encourages physicians to contribute ideas for improving existing services and developing new programs.

Teaching & Leadership Opportunities

Physicians interested in academics can participate in resident education, including teaching Family Medicine residents.

Additional opportunities exist for physicians interested in:

  • Clinical leadership
  • Program development
  • Resident education
  • Women's health initiatives
  • Development of new clinical services
  • Strengthening hospital and community partnerships

This provides an attractive balance for physicians who enjoy community medicine but still want teaching and leadership involvement.

Compensation & Recruitment Package
  • Base Salary: $470,000–$490,000
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
  • Additional premium daily call stipend
  • Comprehensive recruitment assistance through the affiliated hospital
  • Additional recruitment-package details discussed during the interview process
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Active California medical license or eligible for California licensure
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills
  • Commitment to comprehensive women's healthcare
  • Interest in practicing as a full-scope OB/GYN Generalist
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to women and families
Ideal Candidate

This position is particularly well suited for an OB/GYN who wants to do more than routine outpatient gynecology.

The ideal physician enjoys maintaining a broad skill set encompassing obstetrics, outpatient women's health, and surgery and wants a practice where there is sufficient volume to remain active in the operating room.

You'll also thrive here if you value physician autonomy and want the ability to bring new ideas to the table rather than simply stepping into a rigidly defined practice model.

Why Redding, California?

Redding offers a dramatically different California lifestyle than the state's major metropolitan areas. Located between the Cascade and Trinity mountain ranges, the region provides extraordinary access to Northern California's outdoor recreation while offering the amenities of a regional healthcare hub.

The area is especially attractive for physicians who enjoy:

  • Hiking and mountain recreation
  • Mount Shasta
  • Lassen Volcanic National Park
  • The iconic Sundial Bridge
  • Lakes and waterways
  • Year-round outdoor activities
  • Less congestion than California's major metropolitan areas
  • A strong sense of community

For an OB/GYN interested in making a meaningful impact, the position also provides an opportunity to expand access to women's healthcare for families throughout Northern California.

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity for a true Generalist OB/GYN who doesn't want to give up either the obstetrical or surgical aspects of the specialty.

With a $470,000–$490,000 base salary, additional premium call compensation, 1:7 average call, approximately 2 dedicated OR days each week, and an immediate patient base of more than 12,000 women, the position provides the clinical volume and financial package to build an exceptional long-term practice.

You'll combine the autonomy and agility of a private-practice environment with the clinical resources and hospital partnership of a major nonprofit healthcare system—all while having the opportunity to teach, lead, innovate, and make a meaningful impact on women's healthcare throughout Northern California.
