Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Provides primary and urgent care to female patients, including outpatient and inpatient services.
- Collects, records, and maintains patient information such as medical histories and examination results.
- Conducts physical examinations and orders and interprets laboratory, x-ray, and other tests.
- Performs routine obstetric and gynecological procedures and well-woman exams.
- Develops and implements treatment plans, prescribes medications, and provides comprehensive care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery.
- Delivers infant delivery and related surgical procedures.
- Educates patients on disease prevention, detection, and reproductive health.
- Refers patients to specialists as needed and adheres to high standards of medical ethics.
- Assists in establishing and evaluating medical policies, and participates in medical staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Shares on-call coverage duties and supervises Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners as assigned.
- Precepts healthcare students with prior approval.
- Ensures documentation of encounters and tasks in the Electronic Health Record within 72 hours.
- Provides leadership and positive role modeling to the healthcare team.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education and Experience: Medical Degree from an accredited school, minimum 2 years MD or DO OB/GYN experience, completed residency in OB/GYN, community health center experience preferred.
- License/Certification: Unrestricted Medical License in California, Board Certification, current CPR, valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of OB/GYN principles, safety protocols, and infection control. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, demonstrate leadership, and manage electronic records efficiently. Calmness in emergencies, problem-solving skills, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
