The role:

  1. Approximately twelve 14-hour night shifts, with additional night or day shifts available for extra compensation.
  2. Work alongside 8 physicians, 2 certified nurse midwives, 2 nurse practitioners, and skilled support staff.
  3. Provide routine and high-risk obstetric and gynecologic services to a patient population of approximately 500,000 people.
  4. Overnight responsibilities include triage, labor and delivery, antepartum and transfer patients, as well as postpartum patients needing physician consultation, ED consults, and emergent GYN surgery.
  5. Access 24-hour Maternal Fetal Medicine consultation via phone, with on-site Anesthesia and NICU colleagues. We also provide consultation services for the Northern Light Family Medicine residency program and have rotating medical students.

There are over 1,600 deliveries annually at NL EMMC, supporting a level III NICU. We serve two-thirds of Maine's geographical area, with many patients traveling over 2 hours to deliver at our hospital.

Our hospital invested in a $300 million tower opened in 2016, which included a complete redesign of our Women & Infants unit, featuring twenty-five private patient rooms, six new labor and delivery rooms, and two state-of-the-art obstetrics/gynecology surgical suites.

Why choose Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center?

  • Competitive compensation and benefits, including generous paid time off, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching, and comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
  • Student loan reimbursement of up to $20K/year with no cap.
