Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Group - Dominican in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking an OB/GYN Hospitalist (Laborist) for full-time or part-time hours. You will work within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Team at a teaching-affiliated hospital with a Level III NICU and 24/7 anesthesia support. Enjoy significant autonomy and flexible scheduling in a mission-driven setting.

Ideal candidates are BC/BE in OB/GYN with CA license, strong communication, and commitment to patient-centered care. Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible in obstetrics & gynecology.
• Active California medical license or eligibility.
• Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care in a hospital setting.
• Manage labor and delivery and perform C-sections when needed.
• Collaborate with midwives, nurses, anesthesiologists, and ED for patient safety.
• Share on-call duties with a group of OB/GYN physicians.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a full-time or part-time OB/GYN Hospitalist (Laborist), you will join the well-respected Obstetrics and Gynecology Team at Dignity Health Medical Group - Dominican, in coastal Santa Cruz, CA.

You will contribute to improving health outcomes for women and families, with the unique opportunity to define your own work-life balance. You will work alongside experienced Certified Nurse Midwives and fellow OB/GYN Physicians within a mission-driven organization committed to reproductive justice and birth equity. We are affiliated with Dominican Hospital, a nationally recognized medical center with a modern, well-equipped birthing center, an onsite Level III NICU, approximately 700-800 deliveries annually, 24/7 anesthesia coverage, and a dedicated OB ED.

To be successful in this role, you will be a BC/BE Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician seeking a practice that offers significant autonomy, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to provide high-quality, compassionate care within a supportive and well-respected hospital environment.

• Shared call with an outstanding group of colleagues.
• Provide comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care for unassigned or emergent patients in a hospital setting.
• Manage labor and delivery, perform surgical procedures including C-sections, and address acute gynecological conditions.
• Collaborate with midwives, nurses, and anesthesiologists, to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Respond to obstetrical emergencies and consults from the emergency department, providing timely and expert medical intervention.

Job Requirements

Required

• Board-certified or Board-eligible MD or DO in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Active or eligible license in the state of California
